Roof waterproofing with liquid plastic Purelastik

Every roof renovation begins with careful cleaning of the roof surface with pressurized water. Dirt residues prevent optimum adhesion to the substrate.

Before working on the surface, the edges of the roof should be prepared. Here, the connection of the parapet to the roof surface is of particular importance. Depending on the height of the parapet, the user should select a fleece width that extends from the top edge of the parapet to the roof surface by at least 10 cm. During subsequent surface reinforcement, the fleece can then be applied from the roof surface.

Likewise, all roof penetrations such as ventilators, gullies and skylight domes are prepared in full reinforcement before the surface reinforcement.

Laying the full reinforcement is relatively simple. Apply Purelastik slightly wider than the fleece to be laid over a not too large area. Keep the area to be laid only as large as you can continue to work on the surface quickly. Then place the fleece without bubbles or wrinkles and massage it in with a broom so that the liquid plastic already completely penetrates the fleece. The correct quantity has been applied when the previously white fleece is gray after processing with a broom. You can then recoat the fleece again with a broom or airless equipment.

The next section is again laid full with Purelastik and the fleece should overlap the previous web by about 5 cm. And again after finishing without bubbles and wrinkles, recoat with broom.

And the result

If you have followed our steps, your roof should look like this when finished. You have achieved a sufficient layer thickness with 3 kg/m². If you have used less than 3 kg, we strongly recommend that you apply the remaining material to your roof. All tests with Purelastik at the material testing office have been done with 3 kg/m²! The layer thickness is crucial for the longevity of the coating.

Roof waterproofing in Andalusia DIY

This photo was sent to us by a customer from Tarifa/Province of Cadiz/Spain. The customer, German operator of a kitesurfing school in the windiest region of Europe, sealed the roof of his bungalow himself. After failed attempts with local products, he is very satisfied with the result. With the highest possible UV resistance and a lot of salty moisture due to immediate proximity to the sea, PURELASTIK has now proven itself unchanged for several years.
