Flat roof renovation - flat roof waterproofing

Flachdach-Sanierung: Flachdach Bitumendach

Roof renovation with PUR roof spray foam means roof waterproofing and thermal insulation in one operation!

In extreme form, the flat roof is exposed to external influences - weather and environment. High heating by the sun and sudden cooling by rain lead to strong movements in the outer skin.

Roof penetrations such as ventilators, skylight domes and other superstructures as well as wall connections are particularly stressed. This is where it becomes apparent whether the existing waterproofing can withstand the loads. Leaks occur particularly frequently at roof penetrations.

Another weak point of roof waterproofing is the embrittlement of the roof membrane. Materials that are still elastic in summer often lose their elasticity with increasing cold. Older foils become brittle due to so-called plasticizer migration.

PUR - roof spray foam and liquid plastic

offers an interesting approach to a solution here: the exterior insulation thermally calms the supporting structure. The excellent insulating value prevents the strong heat-cold expansion and thus significantly reduces the load on connections.

The high reactivity of the foam allows for easy integration of roof penetrations into the roof cladding. In practice, this means that it does not matter whether the surface to be coated is flat, sloping or vertical. Any roof shape can be optimally insulated with PUR roof spray foam. Openings are simply foamed on and integrated into the roof cladding.

The prerequisite for a good connection to the substrate is that it is clean (broom clean), solid and dry. Removal of the old and damaged roof cladding is not necessary in most cases.

Rigid polyurethane foam is not UV-stable. Therefore, a UV-resistant coating is applied to the finished foam surface: PUREKLASTIK - a product of Isopol.

Today, long-term coatings are used for UV protection. These form a highly elastic film on the foam surface, which, in addition to the UV protection effect, offer a considerable improvement in mechanical load-bearing capacity. The PURELASTIK liquid plastic used here is not only used for UV protection but also as a stand-alone waterproofing.

Liquid plastic can be sprayed and rolled on.

Roof inlets are edged with liquid plastic and full fabric reinforcement after the roof surface has been foamed. In this way, we practically produce a dimensionally accurate repair gully on site, which hardly affects the inlet cross-section and ensures water drainage.

The method of roof sealing with so-called liquid plastics, in this case PURELASTIK, with full fabric reinforcement has proven itself very well in the flat roof area and is now included in the building regulations list. Derived from this, we use the positive experience in the waterproofing of roof inlets.
